Three Graces

I had an idea to copy a 1920’s postcard of three dancers with their heads bowed together. It took forever for me to arrange the fabric and find the perfect spot and wait for the perfect light-oh and there was a nearby brush fire and a big plume of smoke and several small airplanes buzzing us overhead, I kid you not. Eventually we got this shot and I am very pleased. Thank you Jaime, Jess and Ileana for modeling and thank you Paige for assisting.

Webster Family Portrait

I could not resist asking the Websters to model for me when I saw them strolling around the streets of Petaluma. Thankfully they agreed and I can’t wait to photograph them again. By the way, this is my first digital portrait. I now own a Nikon D300 and I am trying to read the whole manual.

Occasionally a photographer is asked to provide a portrait of themselves taken by another photographer or  a self portrait. This is a good time to take advantage of other photographer friends whose work you admire. My friend Lisa Kimmell took this photo and then Tyler Young made it look very 19th century. Tyler requested the portrait of me for the Petaluma Here project to help promote local business owners. At first I was in a panic to find a good photo of myself but I am now very pleased to have collaborated with such talented people. Thank you Lisa and Tyler for my portrait.
